Dear reader,
We’re delighted to present the new website of UNU-MERIT.
With this we aim to boost our visibility in a dynamic and integrated way. Dynamic, by using numerous sliders and 3D tag clouds refreshed with every new post. Integrated, by embedding all possible media, from lecture slides to video interviews. The goal is to be a one-stop shop for all our visitors.
From the outset we wanted a look and feel similar to the UNU hubsite: a simple but elegant frame that puts the content first, whether expert interviews or research reports. The idea is that content should focus all the colour and interest – so out with the orange and purple and in with the clean, white background and space-saving ‘toggle boxes’.
The structure is modern with some classical elements. Modern, by running on Word Press with a plugin that adapts our content to the size of your screen. Classical, by following the ‘rule of three’ for layout, tags and most of our sliders. Additionally, we follow the UN Editorial Manual, the core of which is Oxford English.
We’ll shortly have everything onsite: from the I&T weekly to the press review to the quarterly newsletter, plus a dedicated page for all our infographics, podcasts and videos. In the meantime, as we further refine the site, we’d welcome your comments in the section below.
Yours,
The UNU-MERIT Communications Team
