Chen Gong is a PhD Fellow at UNU-MERIT/ School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University. Her research interests concern the labor market structural change as a result of technological development and its influence on income and social welfare inequality. 

Before moving to Maastricht, Chen has various working experiences with international organizations in the United States, Switzerland and Thailand as project and policy officers. She holds a M.A. in Public Finance Administration from the University of Gerogia in the U.S, a M.Sc. in Public Policy and Human Development from Maastricht University, specializing in social protection policy, and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology, with a focus on social stratification study.
