This book examines the causes and consequences of poor systems of innovation in the Arab region. We provide significant contribution by explaining that the systems of innovation in the Arab region is eminently impeded by the lack of efficient and systematic institutions, the lack of enabling economic structure, deficiencies of labour market and the lack of incentives in the Arab region. We fill the gap in the Arab literature by explaining that the economic structure, mainly; the prevalence of natural resources rent-seeking based-economy in the Arab region seriously impeded the performance of systems of innovation in the Arab region.
