Background
UNU-MERIT is an member of the UN Interagency Task Team Workstream 6 (IATT WS6) on Capacity Building in Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) for SDGs. This task team was formed in 2017 with the aim to strengthen STI for SDGs capacity building, designing and delivering training courses and workshops on STI Policy for SDGs, particularly for developing countries. The goal is to assist policymakers, public service experts, and key STI stakeholders in keeping abreast of most current approaches to STI policy design, and to enhance their ability to mobilize STI as part of strategies to achieve the SDGs. More information on the aims and activities of the task team can be found here.
During a mutual learning exercise in Ethiopia (14-17 February 2023) that was organised by IATT WS6 and OACPS, the handbook was first drafted, which drew on the collective knowledge and contributions of all participants of the event, as well as the expertise and dedicated efforts of the experts who drafted it (Chux Daniels, Budzanani Tacheba and Mariem Kane).
Now, the final version of this comprehensive document will be presented in this online event, hosted by the OACPS Research and Innovation Programme.
