WASH and Waste in West Africa


Charlie Uldahl Christensen, Walking for Water

Charlie will talk about the Danish NGO Walking for Water's approach to fundraising, community sensitization and project facilitation in the WASH sector in various African countries, with a special elaboration on lessons learned after 5 years on the field. 
He will also be touching the issue of plastic pollution, and briefly present a number of ideas to approach it. 



About the speaker

Charlie Uldahl Christensen is a danish citizen and founder of the NGO Walking for Water. 

From May 2015 to August 2019 he has been hiking from Denmark to Nigeria, to raise attention on the global water crisis, and funds for Water services in African communities. 

Walking for Water have made boreholes in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria and Tanzania. 

In Nigeria Charlie has been working as assisting director on a festival about UN's sustainable development goals and have become aware of the pressing problem with plastic pollution. 

After returning to Denmark he has started the sole proprietorship consulting and business development agency NornGuest Ventures through which he is working on sustainable busines models, with a special focus on fighting plastic pollution.
