Symposium: Diamonds are a woman’s best friend -- Gender representation in public policy

Catie Lott, Petra Meier, Karen Celis, et al., UNU-MERIT

Featuring reps from various international bodies, this symposium presents a quickfire series of lectures followed up by various interactive activities.

The latter include a 'Fishbowl Conversation', which aims to hook the audience with a simple question: whether more women equal better governance.

A Labour Market Panel then gives the latest perspectives from Europe (OSCE), the Americas (USAID, IDB), Asia and Pacific (UN ESCAP).

Finally, we present case studies on gender-responsive budgeting in Bangladesh, and the myth of gender-natural power.

A mingling lunch rounds off the symposium.

Note: The symposium is offered within the GPAC2 PhD programme workshop. The event is organised by the GPAC2 coordination team headed by Cristina Mancigotti and MPP students, chaired by Romina Rojas.
