'Reach & Turn' Science Reporting Workshop

Prof. Carlos Cadena Gaitán, Sueli Brodin, Diego Salama, et al., UNU-MERIT and SENACYT Panama
This workshop targets researchers, communications staff, and science journalists from across Latin America. It is a capacity- and network-building exercise, showcasing the work of UNU and its partners while (crucially) defending evidence-based reporting and policymaking.
The programme begins with an overview of the political and media landscape across the Americas and beyond, drawing on the latest opinion polls and media freedom index. We then share good practice in science reporting: from identifying audience(s), to tailoring style, to storytelling with data.
Our session on social media and 'Twiplomacy' will be given by the Dutch Ambassador to Panama, Dirk Janssen -- an alumnus of Maastricht University.
