METECH Seminar: Introduction to Programming and Statistical Analysis with R (Participants strongly encouraged to bring own laptop with R installed)

Nevena Zhelyazkova, UNU-Maastricht

R is a free software environment for statistical computing, programming and graphics. It provides a wide variety of statistical (linear and nonlinear modelling, classical statistical tests, time-series analysis, classification, clustering, ...) and graphical techniques, and is highly extensible.

Many extension packages such as iGraph are based on R. Anyone who is not familiar with R and is planning to attend the Dec. 3 seminar on network analysis using iGraph is strongly encouraged to attend this seminar.

1) To install R go to: http://www.r-project.org/
2) To install an editor (optional) :
- either R Studio: http://www.rstudio.com/ide/
- or Notepad++ with NppToR : http://notepad-plus-plus.org/ and http://sourceforge.net/projects/npptor/
