Judith Flory "Tax-Deferred Retirement Savings in Germany from 2005 to 2040" Summary "Germany as other OECD countries face an aging population. This not only implies pressure for the expense side of the budget. Instead an increasing number of elderly also reduces tax revenue from income taxation as usually incomes are higher during work life than after retirement. In addition to changes on federal tax revenue given a greying society, Germany introduced a stepwise shift to increase taxation of retirement income between 2005 and 2040. The presentation will explore the situation in Germany in light of an aging population and with the reform that introduces tax-deferrement."
