Prof. Dr. Norbert Janz
1. Economics of Knowledge and Innovation
Norbert Janz is Professor of Economics at FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences and has been a visiting researcher at UNU-MERIT since August 2005. He is part of the UNU-MERIT research group on "Micro-based evidence research on innovation and technological change" that is using micro data to analyse innovation and productivity in developing countries. Norbert has studied economics and received his Ph.D. in econometrics 1997 from University of Kiel, Germany. From 1997 to 2003 he was Senior Researcher at ZEW (Centre for European Economic Research) in Mannheim, Germany. As project manager he was in charge of the annual national German Innovation Survey, part of the European wide Community Innovation Surveys (CIS), and served as a consultant to the German government, Eurostat and OECD. Since 2003 he has been professor at FH Aachen where he served as Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies (2008-2012) and Vice Rector for Academic Affairs (2012-2015).
