Mario Alberto Macchioni  is a PhD fellow of UNU-Merit. He attended the bachelor degree in economics at the University of Trento and afterwards studied innovation at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna di Pisa. In this context, he studied the role of government in encouraging firms to engage in innovation activities, specifically focussing on the implementation of the R&D tax credit tool.
