Ilsa Meidina


PhD fellow

Ilsa Meidina is a GPAC2 PhD Fellow at UNU-MERIT / Maastricht University. She is currently working as Social Protection Specialist for the World Bank where she is co-leading the World Bank's support to Indonesia's National Social Security System's design and implementation. She also leads technical and advisory support to the improvement of Timor Leste's social protection delivery system. Prior to joining the World Bank, Ilsa worked with the AusAID and the British Council on education program's monitoring and evaluation, post-disaster reconstruction project, and youth empowerment issues.

Ilsa's research interests include social insurance coverage expansion among informal sector workers in light of the changing nature of works and ageing population. Her PhD research looks into determinant factors of and barriers to gig workers participation in retirement saving in Indonesia. Ilsa holds a bachelor degree (cum laude) in International Relations from the University of Indonesia and a Master of Public Affairs from Sciences Po, Paris. Ilsa is currently based in Jakarta, Indonesia.
