Soha Youssef is a researcher within the Migration Group at UNU-MERIT, United Nations University. Soha holds a double MSc in Public Policy and Human Development from Maastricht University/UNU-MERIT, with a specialisation in Migration studies. Soha’s thesis focused on the decision-making of the Sudanese Migrants living in Egypt. Upon finishing her studies, Soha joined the Migration Research Group at UNU-MERIT.

Prior to joining UNU-MERIT, United Nations University, Soha obtained her BA from the American University in Cairo where she studied political science specialising in international law and international relations. After obtaining her degree, Soha worked as a refugee status determination senior assistant in the UNHCR office stationed in Cairo. Soha mainly processed asylum applications for East African and Iraqi asylum seekers in Egypt.
