Richa Shivakoti is a postdoctoral researcher at UNU-MERIT. Her current research focus is on studying the linkages between migration and health. Richa holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy from the National University of Singapore and a dual Masters in Public Affairs and Political Science from Indiana University.

Richa is also a New Scholar Associate at the Centre for Global Social Policy at the University of Toronto. Previously, she was a Visiting Scholar at the Institute for the Study of International Migration at Georgetown University and a faculty at Kathmandu University. She has also worked with the Open Society Foundations in Kathmandu, Nepal and at the International Rescue Committee in Baltimore, Maryland. She has been involved in research at various institutes such as the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Institute for the Study of International Migration, Institute of Water Policy and Murdoch University. She has also taught at various universities in Singapore, Nepal and the United States.
