Lorena Giuberti Coutinho obtained her Ph.D. degree at UNU-MERIT/Maastricht University in 2022. She holds an MA and a BA degree in Economics from the University of Brasilia, Brazil. Her research focuses on digital transformation and the impacts of the adoption of digital technologies on decision-making and attitudes and their implications for policies. Lorena has designed and executed a field experiment in a job fair to identify the impacts of algorithmic recommendations in the labor market. She also used econometrics and quasi-experimental methods to evaluate the impact of the Internet and social media usage on political polarization. She has presented work at local and international scientific meetings. She tutored Public Policy at the Master of Science in Public Policy and Human Development from Maastricht University and UNU-MERIT and Impact Evaluation for graduate students at UNU-MERIT.
