Gideon Ndubuisi joined the UNU-MERIT in 2016 as a PhD Fellow. He has a BSc. in Economics from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka (Nigeria) and a MSc. in Economics and Institutions from Philipps-University Marburg (Germany). Before joining the UNU-MERIT, he worked for the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW), Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW), and the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) which are all situated in Germany.

Gideon's primary research interests are in international trade, formal and informal institutions, firm behavior and performance, and structural change. However, he also researches broadly on development economics issues such as migration, public finance, and Knowledge and Technology Transfers.
