Camilo Nicanor Carrillo Purin

Camilo Carrillo holds a BSc Economics from Del Pacifico University, in Lima, Peru as well as a MSc Economics from Pompeu Fabra University-Spain and a MSc. in International Economics & Finance from Tilburg University, The Netherlands.

He has experience in the Academia, the Consultancy and the Peruvian Public Sector. Camilo started as an Investment Analyst at the Investment Office of the Ministry of Economics and Finance. After his postgraduate studies, which he practiced at Price Waterhouse Coopers in Amsterdam, he returned to Peru to work for the International Finance Corporation (IFC) as a consultant, mainly developing investment projects in rural areas.

He has also worked as an Associate Researcher at the Del Pacifico University Research Centre, dividing his time between consultancy within the Public Management and Social Policy Area and as a lecturer of the course "General Economics I"

For the past year, he has been working as an adviser to the Minister Office within the Ministry of Agriculture and additionally as Director of the Agrarian Bank, "Agrobanco".   

His research interest focuses on Impact Evaluation of Public policies, especially related to the educational sector. His future research proposes to assess the impact of the new 'accompanying teacher' policy implemented by the Ministry of Education in 2012 to improve the results of the national education. This research could help sensitize policy makers in implementing cost-effective measures in the context of a developing country.
