Dr. Victor Cebotari is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Maastricht Graduate School of Governance (Maastricht University) and affiliated with the United Nations University (MERIT institute) in Maastricht, the Netherlands. He is also a research associate with the Economic Policy Research Institute (EPRI), in South Africa. During 2012-2014, Dr. Cebotari was awarded a Marie Curie postdoctoral fellowship at the Luxembourg Institute for Socio-Economic Research, co-funded by the National Research Fund in Luxembourg.

Dr. Cebotari holds a PhD in Social Protection from Maastricht University (2010). For conducting his PhD studies, Dr. Cebotari was the recipient of another Marie Curie Fellowship from the European Commission. He also holds an MSc in Social Policy Analysis from KU Leuven in Belgium (2005).

Dr. Cebotari's expertise revolves around topics of migration, child well-being, social protection, identities and conflict. The geographical area of interest for Dr. Cebotari is Sub-Saharan Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. He is involved in teaching, as coordinator and lecturer, for a number of courses at Maastricht University, UNU-MERIT, the University College Maastricht, and the University of Mauritius. Additionally, Dr. Cebotari is/was extensively involved in research and training projects commissioned, among others, by UNICEF, NORFACE, NUFFIC, NWO, WOTRO, ILO and the European Commission. Dr. Cebotari has published his research in a number of international peer-reviewed journals and book volumes.
