Dr. Zina Nimeh is an Associate Professor of Public Policy at UNU-MERIT and Maastricht, with over two decades of professional and academic experience in the areas of public policy, social policy, public sector reform and governance.
Dr. Nimeh obtained her PhD in Public Policy and Policy Analysis in 2012 from Maastricht University through a Marie Currie research grant. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Xavier University in Ohio, and a Master’s degree in Labour and Human Resources from the Ohio State University with a focus on internationalization and strategic organizational development.
Her content area of expertise is on public policy, social protection policy and financing, social cohesion and governance. Regionally she has extensive expertise in the MENA region, as well as in the emerging markets contexts.
She has over twenty years of experience in teaching and training, which includes curriculum development, instruction, assessment, and professional development in diverse and cross-cultural settings. Dr. Nimeh can communicate in several languages. She is bilingual in English and Arabic, and speaks Dutch, Spanish and French.
Outside academia she has had managerial and consulting experience in the areas of human development, social policies and public sector reform with focus on employment, education and social exclusion. She has applied experience in policy development and implementation and continues to work as a consultant for UN organizations such as the ILO and UNICEF.
Dr. Nimeh resides in the Netherlands with her husband and two children.
