Andrea is an Associate Professor at Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at Universidad de la Salle in Bogotá, Colombia and an Affiliated Researcher at UNU-MERIT.

She pursued her studies in Economics and her M. Sc. in Economics at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, and her PhD studies from Maastricht University.

 She had worked as a public official in different institutions in Colombia as Colombian and Familiy Welfare Institute National, the Department of Planning and the Shelter and Housing Secretary of the Government of Bogota. She has also worked as researcher for the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Most of her working experience has been related to Social Development issues but she has also work on transportation sustainability, monitoring and evaluation systems and corruption and governance.

Her research interest are: Social Policy; Monitoring and Evaluation; Poverty; Inequality; Conditional Cash Transfers; Social Safety Nets; Health Insurance; Ageing; Food Security; Economic and Social Development; Social Dynamics; Quantitative Methods; Poverty Measurement; Multidimensional Poverty.
