Jennifer is a PhD student at UNU-MERIT working under the supervision of Prof. Bart Verspagen. She analyzes strategies for development and related diversification from a global value chain perspective, using a combination of input-output and network methodologies at the macro and micro level.

Besides working on her dissertation, she is student adviser for the "Innovation, Institutions and Development" specialization track of the MPP program, and teaches as tutor in the ''Innovation system in the Global Economy'' course.

Jennifer completed a Bachelor degree and Master courses in Economics at the National University of Colombia. Before joining UNU-MERIT as PhD student, she served as adviser at the National  Department of Planning of the Republic of Colombia (DNP) and the National Department of Statistics (DANE). She also worked as lecturer at bachelor level at the Economics Department of the National University of Colombia in Bogotá and as research assistant in research projects for the public sector.
