Welcome to UNU-MERIT!
We quickly wanted to tell you something about UNU-MERIT, who we are and what our masters programme is all about.
UNU-MERIT is the UN’s institute for comprehensive innovation: a research and training institute that mobilises knowledge, education and policy to unlock the full potential of comprehensive innovation for sustainable development.
We collaborate closely with Maastricht University for our Master of Public Policy and Human Development programme. It in itself is a very unique programme, in which you will receive a double degree from both institutions.
Enough about us, let’s talk about you!
Luckily, it’s not about us, but about you and the choice you are making for your future. To help you with this choice, let’s discuss what a year at UNU-MERIT looks like.
The first semester is the same for all students. The focus is on the theories and practice of policymaking, and basic quantiative skills. You will take three courses and several skills trainings covering the general aspects relevant in the fields of governance and policy analysis.
What can you specialize in?
At the end of the first semester, you will choose an area of specialization. The programme director and the specialization coordinators will support you in making your selection. The areas of specialization are:
- Social Protection Policy
- Migration Studies
- Risk and Vulnerability
- Global Governance for Development
- Governance of Innovation
- Social Entrepreneurship and Public Policy
There’s still lots of information
Unfortunately we’re not able to tell you everything we want to on this page, but that’s ok. You can check out this part of the UM website and find out what our programme is all about. If you have a question on the admission requirements or registration or the tuition fee that is where you need to go.
Feel like a part of UNU already?
Great! Our Student Ambassador Kathleen is happy to give you an insight in her life as a master student here in Maastricht. She’ll share with you the culture of The Netherlands, events, UNU & MPP content and lots of tips and tricks.
