Raquel Tsukada

Thesis: Essays on Household Production with Labour-Saving Technology, 2016

Raquel Tsukada joined UNU-MERIT and Maastricht University in 2012 as a Ph.D. Fellow. Before that, she served the Brazilian government as advisor at the Secretariat of Strategic Affairs, Presidency of the Republic. Raquel holds a M.Sc. in Development Economics (Ohio State University), M.A. in International Political Economy (University of Tsukuba) and B.A. in Economics (University of Brasilia). Her PhD research investigates the impact of labor-saving technologies (water supply) on the intrahousehold reallocation of time and consumption. She uses time use data from Brazil, Burkina Faso and Ghana.

Areas of interest: development economics, family economics, household production, time use, water supply.
