Youth in Unrest - The Voice of Occupy: Did Western Capitalism Fail?
“Youth in Unrest” is an event series, which elaborates on the current protests, unrests and revolts of young people around the globe. The series consists of two events dealing with the background and reasons for protest, the analysis of the approach and forms of the uprisings and an outlook towards future scenarios in terms of distribution of wealth and participatory chances in the global economic and political system.
The setting of the two events combines the educative features of lectures, giving the speaker plenty of time to establish his or her argument, with the confrontational features of panel debates, clashing of diverse opinions and the integration of the audience.
The series will take place on the 8th and 15th of February 2012. The School of Business and Economics of the University Maastricht will provide its lecture hall with a capacity of approximately 250 people.
