Anja Werntges Msc
6. Migration and Development
Anja Werntges is a researcher at UNU-MERIT, focusing on migration in the context of climate change. She researches how impacts of climate change including different types of climate-related events influence migration and displacement patterns, and explores the use of agent-based migration models.
Previously, in her thesis at TU Delft in collaboration with the UNEP DTU Partnership (UN Environment Programme and Technical University of Denmark) she studied the impact of market-based interventions on the adoption of clean cooking practices in refugee settlements, using modelling techniques and qualitative interviews. She has fieldwork experience in Ghana and Tanzania including at Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
Anja holds a MSc in Engineering and Policy Analysis from TU Delft and a BSc in Electrical Engineering from RWTH Aachen University.
