Dr. Hiwot Mesfin

Hiwot M. Mesfin holds a Ph.D. in Development Economics from UNU-MERIT, Maastricht University, an MSc. in Agricultural Economics from Gent (Belgium) and Humboldt (Berlin) Universities, and a BSc. in Agricultural Economics from Haramaya University, Ethiopia.

Before joining the Ph.D. program, she worked as a Lecturer at the School of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Management, Haramaya University, Ethiopia. During her Ph.D., she also worked as a tutor at UNU-MERIT and other faculties of Maastricht University and as a Research Assistant at the Oxford University refugee studies centre. Her research interests revolve around understanding the dissemination of knowledge and innovation, human and social capital formation, behavioural sciences, and evaluation of program impacts.
