Prof. Louis Volante

Louis Volante is Professor of Education at Brock University in Ontario, Canada and President-Elect of the Canadian Educational Researchers’ Association (CERA). His research is focused on the global governance of education, comparative policy analysis, international achievement studies, socioeconomic inequality and student achievement, migrant integration and student outcomes, and educational reform and innovation. Professor Volante's publications have been widely disseminated and referenced by scholars around the world. His latest books are entitled The PISA Effect on Global Educational Governance (Routledge Press, 2018) and Immigrant Student Achievement and Education Policy: Cross-Cultural Approaches (Springer Press - Forthcoming) with Drs. Don Klinger and Özge Bilgili.

Professor Volante was recently featured as an educational change expert by the American Educational Research Association (AERA) within their Lead the Change Series - Issue No. 72 (http://www.aera.net/SIG155/Lead-the-Change-Series). He is the recipient of numerous awards including the R.W.B. Jackson Publication Award, which is awarded annually by CERA for the best English language journal article. Louis is currently the Principal Investigator of a five-year Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) funded study entitled "Immigrant Student Achievement and Education Policy: A Pan-Canadian Analysis" with Co-Investigator Dr. Don Klinger (Queen's University) and Collaborator Dr. Melissa Siegel (Maastricht University). Dr. Volante holds a PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Toronto.
