Dr. Tamara A. Kool is specialist in gender, social (protection) policy and forced displacement, with a regional focus on the Middle East. With evidence-based policy research at the core of her work, she has supported various institutional consultancies in different capacities in the field of social (protection) policy and humanitarian contexts for amongst others UNHCR, WFP, Economic Research Forum, UNICEF, IOM, and ILO. In addition, she has taught courses and gave professional trainings on social protection and human development. Her wide array of experiences enables her to work on the multiple facets that come with research projects, from the logistical and organisational management to research and communication to various stakeholders.

Recently, she obtained her PhD at Maastricht University on the role of refugee-related policies in shaping inclusion of regional-based refugees in the Jordanian labour market. In addition, she holds a MSc Public Policy and Human Development from Maastricht University and UNU-MERIT (cum laude) where she specialised in social protection and, amongst others a BA in General, Comparative and Intercultural Literature from Leiden University. Prior to her PhD, she worked on advocacy efforts and consultancies related to gender, peace and security.
