Janyl Moldalieva is a Ph.D. Candidate in Public Policy and Policy Analysis at UNU-MERIT/Maastricht Graduate School of Governance (MGSoG). Her research looks at multi-level transparency and accountability policies and practices in natural resource governance. She explores how actors at multiple scales engage in relational spaces of alliances and conflicts in governing natural resources. Janyl held a visiting scholar position at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and was also a research fellow at Columbia University in the City of New York. She obtained her MSW degree in International Development from Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to joining the UNU-MERIT/MGSoG, Janyl worked for the USAID programs on political transition and good governance, and also served as a consultant for multiple international organizations, where she conducted assessment and evaluation studies and advised stakeholders on policy design and program interventions.
