Dr. George Christopoulos is an economist who currently serves as the Deputy Governor of Greece's Public Employment Service (DYPA). He previously worked as a Senior Advisor to the Minister in the Greek Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy, specializing in the design and implementation of EU-funded investment projects.

George holds a PhD from Maastricht University, an MSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a BSc from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. His PhD thesis was titled 'Regional Patterns of Innovation Clustering and Economic Performance' and introduced a new approach for the identification of innovation clusters, based on the co-location of concentrated patenting and manufacturing activity in the EU.

His research interests focus on innovation and technological change, EU financial tools, labour markets, skills and regional growth. He has previously co-authored policy reports on behalf of the European Commission within the context of projects such as the Regional Innovation Monitor and the Business Innovation Observatory.
