Dr. Shellie Solomon

Shellie E. Solomon is the Chief Executive Officer of Justice & Security Strategies, Inc. (JSS), a consulting firm that specialises in issues related to criminal justice, homeland security, children and youth violence, public health, and public policy. At JSS, Ms Solomon has worked in over 30 law enforcement agencies across the United States, the US Virgin Islands and Trinidad and Tobago.

Currently, Ms Solomon serves as the principal investigator for “Linking Theory to Practice: Testing Geospatial Predictive Policing in a Medium-Sized Police Agency” and as project coordinator for an evaluation of LAPD’s TEAMS II. She led efforts to study collective efficacy as related to neighbourhood violence through grants from the National Institute of Justice and The Children’s Trust. This effort resulted in a co-authored 2015 book entitled, Community, Crime Control, and Collective Efficacy: Neighborhoods and Crime in Miami.

Currently, Ms Solomon serves as the Project Director of the Service Network for Children of Inmates, a collaboration of 12 community, faith and professionally-based organisations working to support children with an incarcerated parent in collaboration with the Florida Department of Corrections.

She holds a MSc in Public Policy Analysis from the University of Rochester and a BA in Economics from the University of Oklahoma.
