Dr. Tatevik Poghosyan

Governance and institutions Tatevik is a Senior Economist at the Federal Government of Canada and serves as an interim Board Member for North American and Caribbean Network on Learning, Innovation, and Capacity Building (NACLICS). She has over 15 years of experience as an economist, policy analyst and researcher specializing in innovation policy, program evaluation, economics, and technical change. Throughout her career, she has worked for the Federal Government of Canada, UN University (UNU-MERIT), the International Research Development Centre, the Government of Armenia, and various universities in Japan, the Netherlands, Canada, and Armenia. During her tenure with the Federal Government of Canada, Tatevik played a key role in developing policies and programs aimed at strengthening regional and national innovation ecosystems. She actively contributed to the design and evaluation of federal programs targeting the growth of Canadian companies across various sectors. Additionally, she has been actively involved in the government’s initiatives to develop policies and programs related to the transition to a low-carbon economy. Her contribution to the development of green jobs programs in Canada has been notable. While working with the UN University and the International Research Centre, Tatevik led projects analyzing research and innovation landscape changes in developing countries across Eastern Europe, Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Her collaborations involved working closely with various international stakeholders, including national and regional science granting councils, national governments, industry unions, universities and researchers. During her doctoral studies, Tatevik focused on assessing the impact of social capital on firm performance and innovativeness, particularly in transition countries that underwent significant economic reforms. She employed a social network analysis technique to measure firm-level social capital. Additionally, she conducted the first-ever innovation survey in Armenia in collaboration with the World Bank. Tatevik contributed to the field through her publications, which delve into topics such as national innovation systems, firm innovation and performance, and social capital. Her research outputs reflect her expertise and dedication to advancing knowledge in these areas.
