The Economics of Knowledge and Innovation

Twinning partners, The Consortium pour la Recherche Economique et Sociale (CRES) and the United Nations University Maastricht Economic and social Research and training centre on Innovation and Technology (UNU-MERIT) are co-organizing a research level workshop training on “The Economics of Knowledge and Innovation”, on September 27th - October 1st 2010 in Dakar, Senegal. This training is to be attended by invitation.
The course will be held in Dakar, Senegal from 27 September to 01 October 2010.
Aim of the training
- Provide strong knowledge in the areas of economics of knowledge and innovation. Emphasis is placed on theoretical modeling (models of macroeconomic growth, micro-evolutionary approaches) and the empirical applications using real data and econometric methods for their implementation;
- Keep abreast of the latest research developments on the economics of knowledge and innovation;
- Make available to researchers, advanced analytical tools to study rigorously the concepts of knowledge and innovation. They will also be able to develop research programs.
The Teaching Staff
The training will be conducted by distinguished lecturers from United Nations University- Maastricht Economic and Social Research and Training Center on Innovation and Technology (UNU-MERIT), and CRES. Several experts will be invited from the region or other developing countries to reflect the experiences and needs of Senegal in the context of knowledge and innovation.

CRES offices, Dakar Senegal, 27 September to 01 October 2010.
Target Clientele
This course is designed for top researchers in economics who wish to acquire solid tools of analysis in the area of the economics of knowledge and innovation.
Number of Participants: 20-30 researchers
Course Completion Certificate
All participants who successfully complete the course will be given a course accomplishment certificate.
Reading Materials
Participants will be provided with a compilation of key reading materials.
Course Fee
There is no course fee for participants. Participants from outside Senegal are expected to arrange for their own travel funding.
Language
The language of the training will be English and French (in particular with regards to the international speakers). The lecturers will be a combination of international and regionally based speakers.
