4. Innovation, global business strategies and host country development
This research theme focuses on business-oriented research on technological development and innovation. Studies under this theme analyze international R&D strategies of firms, the role of affiliates of multinational corporations (MNCs) and the effect of inter-firm networks on the global technological development process. The theme covers corporate R&D strategies and investment behaviour of MNCs in the Triad, emerging and advanced developing economies. A particular focus is on host government policies regarding the role and position of MNCs and their subsidiaries in advanced developing countries and the technological catching up process of companies originating from developing countries.
