In June 2012, Zina Nimeh successfully defended her PhD on ‘Social citizenship rights: Inequality and exclusion’. Her main case study explores the rights and wellbeing of various groups of Palestinian refugees in Jordan since 1948. The study shows that an inclusive social citizenship policy for new entrants reduces the probability of groups becoming excluded. Her results empirically indicate that in Jordan groups which didn’t receive nationality and those who lived in refugee camp housing are consistently worse off than any other group in the society.
