Brazil invests USD 37 million to fight global warming

A new loan and grants scheme in Brazil will fund companies that contribute to reduced carbon emissions. The scheme will offer loans to support research studies on the viability of CDM projects and to finance the implementation of new technologies that help reduce greenhouse gases. It is the first private sector financing of the kind in Brazil and 90% of the costs will be financed by a public agency linked to the Ministry of Science and Technology, Research and Projects Financing (Finep). The programme will run until 2009. ;
