New project seeks right " policy mix" for improved knowledge investments in Europe Posted: 0000-00-00
In 2002, European countries committed themselves to raise their R&D investments to 3% of GDP - a target that has come to be known as the 'Barcelona Objective'. A major new EU study led by a UNU-MERIT research team will monitor and analyse policies and public financing instruments that can contribute to achieving this target. The study covers 31 countries - the current 25 EU Member States, the two accessing countries ( Bulgaria and Romania ), as well as four non-EU countries (US, Japan , Canada and South Korea ). The project will go beyond traditional analyses and focus on possible "policy mixes" that can stimulate the design of efficient policy portfolios in this area.
