Dr. Michiko Iizuka (Japan) joined UNU-MERIT in February 2008 as a Researcher. She has been based at the Science and Technology Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of Sussex since 2002, obtaining her PhD on global knowledge governance and the rise of the Chilean salmon industry and subsequently working as a researcher on the EU ETEP-NET project on Innovation in Financial Services. Currently she is also a visiting fellow at SPRU and post doctoral fellow at ESRC funded Social, TEchnological and Environmental Pathways to Sustainability(STEPS) Center, established jointly with the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) and SPRU at University of Sussex. Prior to joining SPRU, Dr. Iizuka worked as Researcher at the International Development Centre of Japan and as an Environmental Officer with the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
