| Norbert Janz is Professor of Economics at Aachen University of Applied
Sciences and has been a visiting researcher at UNU-MERIT since August
2005. He is part of the UNU-MERIT research group on "Micro-based
evidence research on innovation and technological change" that is using micro data to analyse innovation and productivity in developing countries. Norbert has studied economics
and received his Ph.D. in econometrics 1997 from University of Kiel,
Germany. For many years he was project manager at Centre for European
Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim, Germany. There he was in charge of
the annual national German Innovation Survey, part of the European wide
Community Innovation Surveys (CIS), and served as a consultant to the
German government, Eurostat and OECD.
