| Rajah Rasiah is Professor of Technology and Innovation Policy, Faculty of Economics and Administration at the University of Malaya in Malaysia. Between 2001 and 2004 he was a Senior Researcher at UNU-INTECH (now UNU-MERIT), where he also served as Head of Publications. His research focuses on the impact of transnational corporations and intellectual property rights on domestic industrial upgrading and innovations. He received his doctorate (economics) from Cambridge University, England in 1992. He joined the National University of Malaysia as a lecturer in 1992, where he was promoted to Associate Professor and Professor, in 1996 and 1998 respectively. He also served as Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak between 1999-2000. He has held several international awards and fellowships and has undertaken consultancies for many international agencies, including UNCTAD, UNIDO, ILO, the World Bank, UNESCO, and ADB. He has held a chair at the Asia-Europe Institute since 2002. Profesor Rasiah has also published several books and numerous articles in international journals. |
