Ionara Costa joined UNU-INTECH, now UNU-MERIT, in December 2004. She obtained a PhD and MPhil in Science and Technology Policy from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil. During her PhD studies, she was a visiting student at the Queen Elizabeth House, University of Oxford. Her research interests encompass different aspects of the relation between multinational corporations (and their subsidiaries) and innovation and development, in the particular context of more advanced developing economies. Dr. Costa’s conceptual approach is based on a systemic and dynamic view of the innovation process, with emphasis on technological learning and capability building.
