| Herman Pijpers, a Dutch national, joined MERIT, now UNU-MERIT, in 2002. He previously worked at the European Centre of Digital Communication (ECDC) and the International Institute of Infonomics, both in Heerlen, and at the European Journalism Centre (EJC) in Maastricht where he was webmaster and editor of the Centre's daily e-zine Media News Digest. He is also founder and editor of I&T Weekly, a free weekly e-zine covering Innovation and Technology related news. He is the developer of the online infrastructure behind the FLOSSpols and FLOSSworld projects, which are studies about the use of Free/Libre Open Source Software. Since January 2008, Herman is member of the Collaborative Creativity Group at UNU-MERIT, a team working on policy aspects of access to knowledge, including open source software and open standards, open courseware, Creative Commons works, and the funding of public knowledge goods. |
