Elaine McGregor is a researcher at UNU-MERIT/MGSoG. She holds a master's degree in Public Policy and Human Development from MGSoG/United Nations University with a specialization in Migration Studies. Prior to her study in Maastricht, she obtained an MSc Urban Regeneration and an MA in Public Policy at the University of Glasgow. Since joining the school she has been involved in a number of migration related research projects and evaluations. Her main research interest lies in the area of migration and development, with a particular focus on the processes of policy development. Elaine is also a GPAC² PhD Fellow. Her PhD focuses on the role of international organisations in the governance of migration and critically examines the evolution of discussions on international migration in global policy discussions since the Population and Development Conference in Cairo in 1994.

Elaine is the assistant coordinator of the UNU Migration Network, a member of the GFMD Civil Society Programme Committee and on the board of the Dutch Association for Migration Research. She is contact for research on policy coherence and migration governance at UNU-MERIT and the Maastricht Graduate School of Governance.
